There are many reasons why training doesn’t work but the common factor is lack of knowledge. Managers often don’t appreciate how challenging it is to create effective learning opportunities. They expect training courses to be available immediately and delivered with minimum disruption.
Spurred on by their managers, trainers try to push as much information into students as possible, just to cover all the course content. They don’t appreciate that the students can’t handle it. The end result? Wasted time, money and opportunity.
The good news is that it is possible to overcome these problems – but it does take an understanding of the issues. And time and effort to get it right.
